Let’s ParTea: Olivia’s 4th Birthday

Hi Friends! It’s been a few weeks since we had Olivia’s birthday party and I wanted to share all the sweet details with you, even though I STILL haven’t even shared Nathan’s birthday party and that was 5 months ago! #oops

I suggested a few party themes to Olivia and she really liked my idea of a tea party. She always loves drinking tea at home and using a fancy teacup and teapot so it was fitting. And so I began my hunt to find all things tea party!

Silicone teacup molds

You may or may not know that my mom is like a professional thrifter. She loves going to secondhand stores (Goodwill is her fav) and she always finds whatever she’s looking for. Once I knew I was planning a tea party, I asked her to find pretty teapots and teacups, so most of these are all thrifted.

I set the table with all the pretty cups, pots, hats for all the guests, and some cute tea party coloring sheets. Fresh flowers make everything look better, so I filled some teapots with flowers for centerpiece decorations.

I decided to keep the kids’ menu simple with peanut butter and jelly tea sandwiches, fruit, and Pirate’s Booty. 🙂 I used different shaped cookie cutters to make the PBJ sandwiches and cut the holes in the top to put the sprinkles in– those were a huge hit with the kids!

My mom and I also made this adorable shortbread teabag cookies (they were totally more for the adults than the kids!) and they looked super cute. To make, just roll out your shortbread dough and use a knife to cut them in the shape of teabags, use a straw to poke a hole at the top, and then bake. Once cooled, thread some string through the hole and staple/glue a piece of paper at the end. Then dip the cookies in candy melts. 🙂

But the pièce de résistance was the unicorn cake! I wouldn’t have done a unicorn cake with a tea party, but Olivia saw this cake baking video a few weeks before her party and kept asking for a unicorn cake, and I just couldn’t disappoint her. It was surprisingly easy and you can find the directions on how to make this cake HERE. And the look on Olivia’s face when we surprised her with it was SO worth it!

We had the best time celebrating our FOUR year old and can’t wait to see what the year brings for her.

XO,

L
