2017: New Year, New Goals

January 3, 2017
Happy New Year

Whoa. I’m pretty sure I just blinked and 2016 was gone and now here we are in 2017! If you know me, you know that I am not a fan of resolutions. When I want to do something, I usually procrastinate for weeks and then just do it! 😉 But high five to you if you make resolutions and double high five if you can stick to them. I am, however, a fan of goals. And I have quite a few that I want to accomplish this year. So I thought I would share them so that I’ll have all of you guys to hold me accountable for all the things I don’t finish!

Blog Goals:

  • Rebrand my blog. I’ve been wanting to change up the theme/aesthetics of my blog for a while now and I need to get it done and give it the facelift it so deserves. I’ve also been toying with the idea of changing my blog name… thoughts?
  • Grow my subscribers! In the blogging world, subscribers are life! If you love my blog and read it regularly, then I would love if you subscribed. I promise I’ll never send you weird chain emails. 😉
  • Get better at promoting my blog on Twitter + Pinterest. I feel like such an old lady when I say this, but I really need to learn Twitter. I’m so bad at it and rarely ever Tweet (you can find me sporadically tweeting @plotofsunshine). I also want to work on revamping some older blog posts and making them more “pinterest friendly.”
  • I would love to hear from all of you what you want to see more/less of in this space! Email, comment, or paper airplane it to me!

Personal Goals:

  • Become Martha Stewart. Okay, so maybe not full on Martha Stewart, but I want to try to do at least one new Pinterest worthy activity a week with Olivia (too ambitious?). Sometimes I feel like we play with the same ol’ toys and do the same ol’ activities and I need to mix it up! So come find me on Pinterest (plotofsunshine) and see what I pin for us to do!
  • Find/make more time for ME. Moms everywhere suffer from not enough me time, it’s pretty much a side effect of motherhood. But I want to make more time for things I love like reading, working out, painting, etc.
  • Be more present. My blog schedule has typically been MWF and I’ve decided to change it to TTh. I want to continue to put out quality content for you but feel like I need to be more present with Olivia. This blog has grown so much, but I never want Olivia to feel like she’s not my number one priority.

So what about you? Big goals for 2017? Share them with me!

XO,

L

I’m with you on the possible blog re-branding. My husband & I started our blog together in 2012…and since then it has really become my blog & the name doesn’t really reflect my current reality or content. Blog names can be so tricky though (and most of them are taken anyway lol)!! I find that many bloggers tend to inevitably grow out of their initial blog names. I’ve been toying with something generic & ambiguous like The Sabra Chronicles / Memoirs – especially since my content is sort of all over the place. I guess it depends on what you see yourself blogging about in the future.

I also agree with being more present. It’s challenging to balance family & blogging though. I’m really just a casual blogger myself, and yet I find it incredibly difficult to finish posts & engage with everyone I’d like to on Instagram. There never seems to be enough time in the day. I wish you the best of luck on all your goals this year! 🙂

Hey Melissa! Thanks for reading! And a big fat YES to everything you just said! I feel like I’ve grown out of my blog name a bit and I would have changed it a long time ago if I found something I like but it’s SO hard! Anyway, good luck with your blog too! And Happy New Year!
