Don’t let that sweet face fool you…
Olivia is going to be two years old in a couple of months. Omg, did I just say that? TWO?! How has that sweet, tiny newborn baby become a full-fledged toddler? Capable of walking, talking, thinking, and even giving attitude on her own.
I’m not sure if we’re in the early stages of the terrible twos (cue moms of three-nagers laughing me) or what, but it’s been kinda startling to see my sweet little obliging baby girl turn into Miss Independent.Β In the last serval weeks, we’ve had so many new developments in the world of toddlerhood that I thought I’d share.
NO. I’m sure many seasoned parents are familiar with it… it’s called the word no. As in the word used to give a negative response. Olivia has not only learned the word, but mastered it quite well. Do you want a smoothie? NO. Let’s go change your diaper! NO. Can you please pick that up? NO.
SORRY. The other day Olivia tried to play with the stovetop burners and I gave her a stern talking to. To which she responded by caressing my cheeks and saying, “I sowy, Mommy, I sowy.” I mean, really, how can you even be mad at that? I’m kinda concerned that her manipulation skills are way too advanced for her age! π
I DO IT. The days of helping my toddler do anything are no longer. Climbing up the stairs, holding a drinking glass, getting dressed. All things that are now answered with a clear and resounding, “I do it.” Eric and I find ourselves looking at this tiny little girl and asking ourselves “When did she become such an adult?”
When you think of toddlerhood, you can’t help but think of meltdowns in aisle 3, picky eaters, and artwork on furniture. And while all those things are plentiful, I am loving this stage in Olivia’s life and watching her become a vibrant, sassy little girl.
What are your crazy little toddlers up to these days?
XO,
L

Age 2-3 is my fav! There’s such an language explosion and the sweetness is unreal…and then age 3 sets in LOL.
OMG I’m scared for age 3!!
No, I do it is the mantra at our house – it’s nonstop!!
Enjoy it – the talking is SO much fun!
Haha! Glad I’m not alone! The talking is the best, every day it’s something new!
What a photo of your toddler, what a beauty ,with a thousand miles of depth in those eyes!
Aww, thank you so much Uncle Jer! I think she’s a beauty too! π
My 16 month old is tried to dictate tonight that she wanted the raspberries from out of the carton rather than the ones that were already washed that I put in a bowl for her to eat. I was like…”they are the same, you can eat these, both yummy.” Sophie was having it. she melted down. then she ate the berries that I gave her not the ones SHE wanted. aaaand. she loved them. toddlers.
Haha! Story of my life! Or how about when the most appetizing thing is whatever is on YOUR plate, not theirs!
