Hoping for Spring + Friday Favs

February 26, 2016

The weather around here has been pretty fickle lately. Last weekend it was warm, then we had a random snowstorm in the middle of the week, and now it’s supposed to be warm again this weekend. And by warm, I mean a balmy 50 degrees. It’s practically a heat wave for Chicago and I just can’t wait for spring. Olivia is also very excited for some warmer weather as she has lately shown an interest in being outdoors. She lunges towards the door every time I open it to let our dog outside. I step outside to appease her, but when we go back inside, she starts crying. I feel ya, kid. 🙁

We just finished our our first Mommy & Me class and really loved it because 1. It gets us out of the house (and not to Target where we inevitably spend lots of money) and 2. I have noticed Olivia has gotten more social/outgoing and enjoys being around other babies her age. We’ve also finished our music class and she loved that one even more. She definitely has gravitated to music, playing instruments, and singing songs. So my goal is to find more unique classes for her that we both can enjoy.

Also, Olivia is getting increasingly more difficult to take on errands because she is at the point where she would rather be crawling and climbing than sitting. Every time I get her in a shopping cart, she manages to turn around (with the seatbelt still fastened) and stand up. And if I put her in the main part of the cart, she stands up there too like a little queen in her chariot. Any mamas have any ideas on how to manage this??

Anyway, here’s to the freakin’ weekend with some things that I’ve had my eye on this week:

I am dying to make this amazing looking lemon blueberry cake and bought all the ingredients to [hopefully] try it this weekend. I’ll let you know how it turns out!

This cute skirt says ‘spring’ to me and it doesn’t hurt that it’s on sale.

I made these chicken tacos with pineapple salsa for dinner this week and they were TO. DIE. FOR.

This post from Scary Mommy really hit home for me.

Check out these chic one piece swimsuits herehere, and here.

Enjoy your weekend, friends! Thank you so much for reading and don’t forget to subscribe so you never miss a post, or you can follow along on Insta @myplotofsunshine. 🙂

First off I got really choked up in that scary mommy post 😩 Second, to help Liv sit in the cart…. snacks snacks and more snacks. Right when I put Brooklyn in the cart she asks, “can I have my snacks pease mommy?” It isn’t always perfect but it helps for a good amount of time. Or get her an electronic toy 👍🏼

I know! Wasn’t that a good Scary Mommy post?! And thank you for the advice, it worked! The last two times we went to Target I was prepared with snacks and she was content! 🙂
