Wrapping Presents With Style

December 10, 2015

One of my favorite things to do this time of year is wrapping Christmas presents. Seriously. I love sitting in front of the fireplace with a stack of gifts waiting to be wrapped, while listening to Christmas music. I love the methodical way the paper gets creased and folded and turned into something pretty. And I love seeing those gifts placed under the tree.

This year I thought I’d spice up my present wrapping a little and get fancy. I enjoy seeing the uniformity of gifts wrapped in all one type of paper at department stores and in holiday decorations, so I thought I would create that for myself.

I went to my happy place, aka Target, and stopped in the $1 section and found all different types of ribbon. I also picked up a few tubes of plain brown paper (also at Target).

By the way, this is the only photo where you’ll see the Hershey’s kisses because they definitely didn’t last the duration of this photo sesh. 🙂

To tie a simple bow/ribbon around a present, lay the ribbon down and place the present (with the taped side facing you) over the ribbon and bring both ends to the other side of the present and do a lil loopty-loo like so:

Then bring the ribbon back around to the front of the present and tie a pretty bow!

This present was the easiest to do and my favorite. Just take your twine/ribbon and wrap it around the present in an asymmetrical criss-cross way and tuck a few candy canes in the shape of a heart (you can you double sided tape to make sure they don’t move).

I don’t know about you, but I think I have a future in the gift wrap department at Macy’s. Even Eric said that my presents look like they could be from a Pier One or Crate and Barrel catalogue! Yesssss!

I TRY to wrap presents well, and I fail: the tape shows, the bows droop — so I sent this one on to Chris, the wrapping maven.
