Hi friends! Things have been a little slower on the blog front this week, and by slow, I mean that I’ve been enjoying the amazing weather that we’re finally having. If you’re from the Chicagoland area, you know that the winters are brutally long and warm weather is fleeting, so you have to take advantage.
I don’t know if it’s because this is my first year as a stay at home mom and I’m feeling a little more cooped up than ever before, but lately, I’ve had the travel itch and I just need to scratch it. I keep telling my husband that we need a vacation. I just want to go, jet, leave, see someplace new and exciting. I don’t care if it’s only one state away, I think I just need a change of scenery!
So, because you all know I’m a fan of bucket lists (check out my mommy bucket list, summer bucket list, and spring bucket lists here) I thought I would share my travel destination bucket list. A list of all the places I’m dying to see. And because I have a pretty extensive bucket list, I’ve narrowed it down to the top 5 international destinations and the top 5 domestic destinations. #OCD
International Bucket List
- Italy and Greece. I realize that these are two separate countries, but they are tied for first on my list. I want to see these countries so bad and I remind Eric of this on a near weekly basis.
- Thailand. Obviously I want to see this beautiful country, but even more than that, I would love to visit an elephant sanctuary and meet those beautiful animals in person.
- Kenya. One of my best friends has been to Kenya and said it’s her all time favorite place and I would love to go!
- Tahiti. What person doesn’t want to travel to Tahiti and stay in one of those cute little huts on the water where you can see the ocean floor through your coffee table? Sign me up!
- Dubai. You hear so much about Dubai and the money and excess and I would love to be able to say I’ve been there.
Domestic Bucket List
- Hawaii. Beaches, volcanos, palm trees… I’m in.
- Wyoming/Montana/Badlands. One of the things Eric and I have always wanted to do is rent an RV and take our kids on an epic road trip through the badlands.
- Vermont. I would love to go to Vermont in the fall when the leaves are changing and stay at a cute bed and breakfast and go antiquing and read books by a fireplace. I’m thinking a weekend anniversary trip (hint, hint, Eric!).
- Arizona. I have never been to AZ, but I really really really want to go to the Miraval resort and do the horse therapy with Wyatt Webb. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check it out here.
- Utah. Mountains, outdoor activities, skiing (okay that’s not really my thing but whatev!), and just so much to do.
So what are your top international and domestic bucket list destinations? Have you been to any of the places I listed? What was your fav?
XO,
L
Giving me major wanderlust. Can I come with you? 🙂
Haha! Of course! 😉
Once our boys are a little older, we’re going to do the cross country thing, but my number one is DEFINITELY Greece – specifically Santorini!
Yasssss! Same here, dying to go to Santorini!
When looking back, for Chris and I, Kenya is always at the top – not just the amazing animals, but the people there, the villages out in the bush, the way of life and the feeling that the red earth, the trees, the light all felt like some kid of eternal home for us.
Can definitely recommend Italy and Greece, both of them are so beautiful, lots to see and amazing food! High on my bucket list are still Argentina, Australia, Peru and basically lots of countries in Latin america 🙂
Argentina and Peru def make my international bucket list, too! 🙂
Enjoy that beautiful weather! My husband and I are going on a European River cruise for our honeymoon this Fall–so after that, my International Bucket List definitely includes: the Amalfi Coast in Italy and the French Riviera! I’ve never been to any of the places you listed above. Domestically, I want to go to Boston, Chicago, and Montana!
Omg I’m so jealous of your European river cruise!! Have a wonderful time! And whenever you make it to Chicago, let me know! 😉
Highly recommend Hawaii. It was so beautiful and laid back, and there’s so much to do besides the typical “beach” stuff. If you go to Maui, you absolutely have to check out the Road to Hana!
Yes, I’ve heard wonderful things about the Road to Hana! Def will check it out whenever I make it to Hawaii!
I love it. I hope you get to visit all the places on your list.
This has me itching to travel too! I’ve always wanted to see more of the United States. (I am from Australia) But I can definitely tell you that you won’t go wrong with visiting Thailand and riding the elephants. That’s an experience I will never forget!
So many of the same places on my list. I can’t wait to take my family to USVI someday & Europe is a must too!
Come to Sweden!! miss you!!
But yes Greece and Dubai is DEF on my list as well!
