You already know Sundays are kind of a big deal at our house. When football season starts, it’s an understood rule between Eric and I that no plans are to be made on Sundays unless it involves a couch, a TV, and good snacks. Sometimes I’m not as prepared with the snacks part of the equation, but there’s a CVS by us and it’s our one stop shop for game day. Especially when it comes to one of our favorite snacks– SNICKERS®! I’ve always loved SNICKERS® but I just tried the SNICKERS® Crisper and it definitely gives the original a run for it’s money. 😉 You can also save on your CVS SNICKERS® run with this coupon and check your local CVS for the football themed SNICKERS® bars!

Aside from the yummy SNICKERS®, I’m always looking for fun ways to amp up our game day fun, especially for when we have guests over to watch football with us (see last week’s post on game day hosting). So I thought I would make some super cute DIY coasters. I did this quick little craft in less than an hour while I fed Olivia her lunch, so I know even the Pinterest fail mama can do this. 😉 I made two types of coasters: footballs and yard line coasters. I made two of each to have a complete set of four.

Here’s what you need to get started on your DIY coasters:

  • green felt
  • brown felt
  • white Duck tape
  • cork board
  • white paint + thin paintbrush
  • astro turf (TIP: your local Home Depot has FREE samples of astro turf already cut into the perfect size)
  • glue gun

For the football coasters:

  1. Start by taking a piece of scratch paper and draw a football shape and cut the shape out. This will be your stencil outline.football-coaster-stencil
  2. Use your stencil to trace the outline of the football on both the cork board and the brown felt. (I used chalk to trace the outline on the felt.)DIY coasters
  3. Use your glue gun (or any strong glue) to glue the brown felt to the cork board.football-diy
  4. Cut your white Duck tape into thin strips to make the laces of the football.

For the yard line coasters:

  1. Trace the shape of the astro turf squares on the green felt. And cut the felt to fit the bottom of the turf.diy-game-day-coasters
  2. Use your glue gun (or any strong glue) to glue the green felt to the bottom of the astro turf.yard-line-coasters
  3. Take your white paint and a thin paintbrush and paint a line right down the middle of the coaster. Then paint a 5 on the left side of the line and a 0 on the right side. diy-coasters yard-line-coasters-diy diy-football-coasters

All done! Super duper easy, right? This craft is something fun your kids can help you with and something your guests will love. They’re the perfect touch for all your game day get togethers! You can check out more game day ideas here.

We are huge on football in our house and these are perfect! Especially since the only coasters I have are breakable ones. Totally making these so the kids can enjoy their own coasters on game days!
