6 Reasons to Vote Moms for President

mom for president

Do you realize that we’re only 2 months away from election day? Whichever way the cookie crumbles, it is sure to be a historic election. And I just want to give a friendly reminder to go and exercise your right to vote! Whether or not you think your vote matters, I assure you that it does. Okay, that’s it, I’ll get off my soapbox now. šŸ™‚

I typically try to stay away from politics here on the blog, but this year’s election is shaping up to be soĀ interesting that I just can’t contain myself. Don’t worry, I’m not going to tell you who to vote for and why you should vote for them (#ImWithHer). I will, however, tell you all the reasons why every day moms like you and me would make the best presidents.

6 Reasons to Vote Moms for President

  1. Moms are skilled negotiators. Peace talks? Nuclear deals? Hostage situation? Moms got this. A mom can make even the most stubborn of people (i.e. toddlers) feel like they’re getting their way. Moms make MnM bribery look like an art form.
  2. Moms are used to lack of sleep. You think the prez sleeps till noon? Nope! And neither do moms. A mother can feed herself, her children, do carpool, throw in a load of laundry, go to work, make dinner, help with homework, and clean up toys on only 3 hours of sleep. I’m pretty sure you could add policy meetings and press conferences in there too and a mom would handle it like a boss.
  3. MomsĀ speak foreign languages. Okay so they may not all speak Mandarin or Spanish, but moms are fluent in toddlerese. Have you ever tried deciphering what a 2 year old is saying?
  4. Moms can unite parties from across the aisle. Have you ever seen a mom make siblings hug after a fight? Yeah, it’s kinda like that.
  5. Moms [usually] have patience. I’m not just talking about the sit and wait kinda patience here. I’m talking about the my-toddler-just-threw-her-lovie-on-the-backseat-of-the-car-for-the-umpteenth-time-and-is crying-for-me-to-pick-it-up-for-her kinda patience. The kind that really tests your mettle. Surely a good president needs that kind of patience.
  6. Moms are expert multitaskers. A mom president will easily discuss treaties while simultaneously helping with herĀ kid’s Common Core math homework. (Speaking of which, a mom president will throw Common Core out the door!)

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure all of us moms have what it takes to be president! Maybe next election I’ll throw my hat in the ring. šŸ˜‰ What motherhood skill do you have that makes you fit to be prez?

XO,

L
