Farmers Market Fun

July 29, 2015

Uh oh! Guess what day it is?! Guess. What. Day. It. Is. Anybody? Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike! Happy Hump Day Everyone! 🙂

Is it just me or is this summer whizzing by at breakneck speed? I woke up the other morning and realized that I’ve barely done anything summery. So I’ve vowed to take complete advantage of these next few weeks and squish as many activities in for Olivia and me as I possibly can.

And that’s why I decided to take Livy to one of the many farmers markets across Chicago. And of course, I chose one of the hottest days of the summer, a smoldering 90 degrees, to walk to there. This farmers market wasn’t terribly far, about a mile and a half each way, but by the time we got there I was shvitzing, as my husband would say.

This particular famers market is at the Federal Plaza in the loop. There are so many things to love about a famers market– fresh vegetables and fruit, homemade breads and pies, and beautiful flowers.

veggies

I looooooove peaches in the summer. I bought a dozen at the market and somehow two went missing by the time I got home. And by missing, I mean I gobbled down the juicy sweetness.

My total famers market haul consisted of cherries, peaches, green beans, pretzel rolls, Irish soda bread, and some raspberry jam. Yum!

I hope that everyone remembers to savor these last few weeks of summer and don’t forget to stop and smell the roses sunflowers.
