New Home Tour

Happy Hump Day, people! I hope you’re making it through the week! On Monday, I told you about some big news going on in my life– Eric, Olivia, and I have made the move from big city to the suburbs and today I’m giving the official home tour!

The home we bought was brand new construction, but we didn’t see the house until it was already finished, so all the finishes are the builder’s picks. We plan on making a few upgrades to things like light fixtures and such down the road, but luckily mostly everything they chose for the home is my taste.

The first thing that caught my eye was that door. Who doesn’t love a red door?!

The first room as you walk in the house is an office/den.

We don’t have a formal living room or dining room, but rather a sort of great room. The main floor has a very open floor plan with the kitchen, dining area, and family room all in one open area. Perfect for parties and entertaining. 🙂family room/ great room

We were able to ask the builders to add a prep sink to the kitchen island because I felt that the existing sink was a little far from the main working area. And now after cooking a few meals in the home I am so happy we made that decision.

The garage entrance is at the other end of the kitchen and that leads to a small mud room. I have plans for some kind of built-in bench with cubbies and hooks to hang our coats. Any carpenters out there?

Stairs are nothing special, but what is special is the super cute bench at the landing of the stairs. I envision myself reading a good book while cuddled up on that bench. Who am I kidding? I’ll more than likely be running past that bench as I chase after Olivia!

The upstairs has another bathroom and three more bedrooms that will be Olivia’s room, a guest room, and a room for a future little one perhaps?

I am so excited to share our new home with you all and you can probably expect more pics over the next couple months (read: years) as I attempt to furnish the house. I would love need your ideas for decorating if you have them!

XO,

L

Congrats Lauren! Very nice house! We’re still in the city and I think about moving to the burbs almost everyday. Gives me so much anxiety just trying to figure out which one will be best for us and the boys. Good luck decorating!! Pinterest and houzz are two of my fave sources of inspiration when it comes to home decor, or dreaming about our first new home.

    Also, Hiiiiii SUMEILA!! 😘

Naaaaaaaaazzzzzz!!!!! Hey girl! I don’t know how you are managing with two boys living in the city. Once all the baby stuff started filling our apartment I was like ‘I gotta get outta here!’ We’re in the western burbs, only like 25-30 min outside the city and there’s tons of stuff around us. Move here and we’ll have play dates! 🙂 Thanks for reading, btw!
