Hey Friends! I mentioned the other day that we had Olivia’s second birthday party over the weekend with our closest family. It was such a fun party and I wanted to share the details.
I started thinking of what I wanted the theme of her party to be a couple of months ago and I knew I wanted it to be about something she loves. And let me tell you, this girl loves ice cream. In fact, ice cream is a common bribe in our house for almost anything, so it was a no brainer that I was going to host an ice cream party.
I wanted it to be a colorful and fun party perfect for my little girl. Half of the decorations I found in the Target Dollar Spot and the other half are things that I made myself (will do tutorials in another post). I envisioned a table with all the best ice cream toppings for people to make their own sundaes and Eric envisioned a mess (this is why we compliment each other). I bought cute little pails to put the toppings in– nuts, sprinkles, MnMs, cherries, and gummies. My mom and I bought mini ice cream sandwiches and cut them in half and put sprinkles on them. I also made some hand-dipped chocolate sprinkle cones. And you see those amazing pink and chocolate cones? They are actually frosted cupcakes and were courtesy of my amazing, Martha Stewart-esque aunt. She asked if she could make something for the party and I was like well… and she delivered!

A Happy Birthday sign, a garland, and some confetti made the party a little more festive. The tassel garland is from Target and I made the ice cream cone garland and birthday sign. And you better believe I’m still finding confetti everywhere.
I also wanted to showcase some photos of Olivia from the past year, so I bought some cheap frames from the dollar store and displayed them on our entry table. I also used some sparkly clothespins to put pics up on the lampshade. And those cute little chalkboard signs were made by one sister in-law and lent to me by another… did that even make sense?
About two months ago, I ordered a buffet table that came in a large box. As soon as I saw the box I knew that I could use it for her ice cream party and I decided to make an ice cream stand. The kids at the party had such a blast playing inside their very own ice cream stand. It was a labor of love and this thing will probably be in my house for the next six months.
Oh and did I forget to mention that Elmo made a surprise appearance at the birthday party? My aunt, the same one that made the cones, also made this Elmo costume. I know, crazy, right?! And she dressed up in it for Olivia because she looooves Elmo.
The highlight of the party was watching Olivia’s face as everyone serenaded her with Happy Birthday.
It was the sweetest ice cream party and my heart was so full watching Olivia enjoy herself and blowing out her candle. And I’m pretty sure she ate enough sweets to last a lifetime.
Thanks for stopping by!
