It’s a ONE-derful Life: First Birthday Gift Ideas

February 24, 2016

My sweet baby girl is turning one next month and I am in the middle of planning her party. I’ve sent out the invitations and in addition to receiving RSVPs, I’ve also gotten a lot of questions about  first birthday gift ideas. I am not entirely sure how to answer because 1. Olivia can’t exactly tell me what she wants. And 2. she is at a point right now where she prefers to play with anything and everything that isn’t a toy (TV remote, cell phone, ripping out pages in my planner, etc). She could also be happy with the cardboard tube from a roll of paper towels or pulling out a an entire box of kleenex. But those aren’t exactly things I can put on her wishlist. I also don’t want to completely fill my house up with cheap, colorful plastic toys. So what are some first birthday gift ideas? I scoured the internet and have found some first birthday gift ideas that are fun, cute, and educational.

First Birthday Gift Ideas

  1. Personalized Name Stool Olivia already has this stool and has just recently shown interest in it. She loves to pull herself up on it and try to take out the letters. And your child can use it as he/she gets older as something to stand on in the bathroom while they brush their teeth.
  2. TeePee I am obsessed with these adorable teepees and really just want this for myself!
  3. Geometry Puzzle I love wooden toys (as you can see from most of the things on this list) and this brightly colored shape puzzle is fun and educational
  4. Cutting Fruit Set This might be a little too old for a one year old but I immediately thought of Liv when I saw it because she gets so excited when she sees me cutting fruit for her every morning for breakfast.
  5. Instrument table Great for any child that loves music and playing instruments
  6. Pew Ybike This little guy is perfect for the little ones that are learning how to walk and fun for those that already know how.
  7. Water Table Summer is right around the corner and how fun does this water table look?! You can also use it indoors during the winter as a sensory table.
  8. Wooden Alphabet Puzzle This puzzle is so pretty that I think it could double as nursery decor
  9. Nesting Toys Love these fun and adorable nesting toys
  10. Alphabet abacus This abacus should have your child at Harvard in no time! 😉
