Once upon a time, when I was pregnant and large glowy, I spent 3 hours making my registry and got this diaper bag that I thought was pretty cute, considering that diaper bags can come in all types of heinous. But there were a few problems– I didn’t feel like it was spacious enough to fit everything that a newborn needed and I didn’t like that it only had a long shoulder strap or two really short handles. I prefer to wear bags under my arm. This bag was much too small.
So I bought another bag on a whim. This next one was not a diaper bag, but an inexpensive purse/work bag. The problem with this diaper bag was that it was much too big to ever double as a purse and I hated it. I always just wound up leaving it in the car because I never wanted to drag it anywhere. This bag was much too big.
I was now on the hunt for the perfect diaper bag/purse combo because I was tired of having two separate bags. Something that was stylish, inexpensive, and fit all my crap. Don’t get me wrong, I would eventually love to splurge on something like this or this, but for now I needed practical and cheap. I finally found this diaper bag and it was… drumroll please… on sale for only $15! I love the gold/nude color, the shoulder straps are the perfect length, it’s roomy, comes with a little zipper clutch, and it’s also reversible! #winning This bag was just right!
You can find my bag here (it’s no longer on sale, but it’s still less than $40) similar/more colors here, here, here, and here. This one isn’t reversible but still super cute.
Because the bag only has one inside pocket, I use these amazing organizing pouches to store everything (they are similar to the packing storage cubes I talk about in this post). I use one to keep Olivia’s diapers and wipes and another one to keep her snacks and a bib. So here’s what’s in my bag:
Pampers Swaddlers diapers
Bumkin bibs (these are the best because they have a pouch to catch stray food and they’re so easy to just rinse under water or wipe down)
My fav lip moisturizer that I always talk about
Random toys that float around the bottom of the bag
Coach card holder/change purse (similar here, here, and here)
The zippered pouch holds all my personal items (inhaler, eyedrops, tums, Excedrin, etc)
Obviously if Olivia was still a newborn I would have about 3 times the diapers, 2 burp cloths, 2 swaddles, a paci, 2 changes of clothes, and a partridge in a pear tree. But I promise that this bag still has enough room for all that.
Anyone else have a diaper bag fail? Or am I the only one? Do you looove your diaper bag? Share it with me!

Such a nice bag you have 🙂 In mine it only is diapers and baby wipes. But that’s because my daughter doesn’t need so much yet, but I think the bag will fill up soon.
Thank you so much, Jeanette!
Yes all of this stuff is a must and I love your tote bag, so cute!
I love my diaper bag, but it´s really a diaper bag would never use it as a purse. Love this one, it´s pretty and fits both purposes. And for that price…
Thanks! Yes, you can’t beat this price!
Finding a great diaper bag is such a struggle! Love this tote though and Smaller pouches are always a great idea.
Your bag is so cute. It looks very fashionable.
I’m also on the hunt for the perfect bag-i recently broke the zipper on my black Graco-but the ultimate challenge for me is finding one that accommodates cloth diapers easily
Good luck on the hunt, I know it’s challenging! 😉
I like those organizing pouches Lauren! I’m constantly using zip lock bags or other bags to put stuff in inside my diaper bag. I’ve been thinking about getting some pouches for a while and I like those a lot. It’s kind of redundant, but I keep all of my diaper changing things (and a change of clothes) in a bag inside my diaper bag. I use http://www.bumkins.com/Bumkins-Waterproof-Wet-Dry-Bag-p/wdb.htm. It’s nice because everything is in the bag. I also keep those good smelly bags with me whenever I leave the house, i.e. the ones that we use for dog poop.
I’ve nearly always used a cute tote bag or purse also!! I like to have as little with me as possible (and thankfully my kids aren’t super messy, so I don’t bring changes of clothes, etc). Love those organizational bags!!
8 months in and I still haven’t gotten the diaper bag thing quite right. You’ve inspired ME to get mine organized! Love the pouch idea.
Oh how awesome is this!!!
You show that you can still be cute even if your a mum! Yessssss girl:)
Luuh you sissy!!
