The Most Wonderful Time of the Year: Christmas 2016

christmas 2016

Hello, friends! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas/Hanukkah! I love the week in between Christmas and the New Year because it’s like time slows down for a bit while we all adjust to the reality of life after the holidays. These last few days have felt like a string of Saturdays and Sundays and I’ve actually had to stop and think about what day it really is.

Christmas 2016

This holiday season was truly magical as Eric and I saw Christmas and Hanukkah through Olivia’s eyes. It was a three day extravaganza with a Hanukkah party on Friday, Christmas Eve with my extended family, and then Christmas with my mom. We ate so much food, enjoyed time with loved ones, and watched Olivia play with her cousins. And I don’t think Olivia has gone to bed before 10pm in days! (I think we’re all in for a rude awakening when we have to get back on a schedule!)

One of the things that I was most excited about was watching Olivia open her presents and I have to say it was so anticlimactic! She would open one present and want to play with just that toy and refuse to open another one. We actually had to hide each present after she opened it so that she would open another one. Moral of the story: only buy your kid one present for Christmas.

But I think it’s safe to say her favorite gifts were this play ice cream set, this teepee, and a vintage doll bed that she insists on taking with her literally everywhere she goes. Also, I’m pretty sure I now need to convince Eric that we have to buy a bigger house to accommodate all of Olivia’s new toys.

We ended Christmas day by driving around looking at lights and getting ice cream in the McDonald’s drive through. The only thing Olivia asked Santa for was vanilla ice cream and we did not want to let her down. 🙂

I’m sad that Christmas is over and will reluctantly take down all of our decorations soon, but we still have three more nights of Hanukkah. Plus, I am excited for 2017 and all the wonderful things I think it will bring!

How was your holiday, loves?

XO,

L
