Disclaimer: I am about to ruin everyone’s summer fun by talking about school supplies.
“School bells ringing, children singing, back to Robert Hall again…” My dad would sing this song at the end of every summer as I returned to school. I have no idea where it originated, but now I sing every summer too. With less than a month before kids start filing back to school, I thought I’d talk about some new and very cool school supplies.
Believe me, I am the first one to run and hide when the back-to-school commercials come on TV, especially being a teacher. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have an obsession with school supplies. So new and fresh and full of promise. There is nothing like opening a fresh notebook or uncapping a super cool gel pen, amiright?!
Okay, maybe you guys don’t share my passion for school supplies, but maybe you will after I share some of these awesome back-to-school finds.
1. Erasable Highlighters. I don’t know why I am just discovering these now, but they are genius! Highlighters that erase! So you can highlight a textbook or novel when you need to and then go back and erase later! Whaaaaat?
2. Lunchbox Notes. This one is really for the mamas out there. Olivia is definitely not going to school anytime soon but when she does, I’ll be buying these super cute lunchbox notes from mom. And it’s a super easy downloadable file that you can print yourself.
3. Calendar planner. Teacher, student, mama– everyone could use one of these super cute planners. It’s great for tracking homework, lesson plans, or your kids’ busy schedules.
4. Tetris Sticky Notes. Okay so maybe these aren’t the most practical item on this list but they’re awesome!
5. Pencil case/Makeup Bag. How adorable is this notebook pencil case? Great for pencils/supplies, as a makeup bag for mom, or as a super cute gift for your child’s teacher (hint, hint). And you can have it customized to say whatever you want.
6. Mechanical pencils. I have these and love them. They sorta look like regular pencils except they’re way better.
7. Mom notes. This notepad makes me want to have more kids, stat. And then I’ll write all my kids’ teachers notes just for fun!
8. Contigo water bottle. EVERYONE in the world needs one of these. Seriously. This water bottle keeps your beverages ICE COLD for 20 hours (says their website) and I can attest to that. My husband and I call it glacier water because it stays so cold. It also doesn’t sweat so you don’t have to worry about papers or clothes getting wet when you throw it in your bag.
9. Backpack for littles. I mean, how cute is this backpack? Come on.
10. School labels. Apparently everything needs to be labeled these days. In my day we just wrote on everything with a Sharpie, but I guess if you’re gonna do it, you might as well make it cute. And they’re waterproof!
And that’s my back-to-school roundup. We can now resume our regular scheduled program of running barefoot in the grass, warming our faces in the sun, and drinking your beverage of choice.
