Fourth of July [Red, White, and] Blues

Happy Mon– I won’t even say it. I know the Monday after the Fourth of July weekend can be a rough one. You’re either still nursing a hangover, lacking sleep, or just plain crabby because all the fun is over.

I hope that you all found time to enjoy your weekend. It was a pretty relaxing, laid-back Fourth for us. I commented to Hubby that it was the most low-key Fourth of July I’ve ever had. It’s to be expected though considering we have a 4 month old baby on a very rigid sleep schedule right now. We spent the weekend taking walks around the neighborhood, spending time with family, and eating delicious BBQ.

Summer always seems to fly by, but it goes especially fast once we’ve passed the Fourth of July weekend. So my plans are to enjoy every minute of sunshine with Eric and Liv. And travel a little! We’re actually leaving for our first big trip with Olivia on Saturday. We’re going to… México!patriotic family

So I’ll be honest that as a first time mom I agonized over whether it was a good or bad idea to take a 4 month old to another country. Will it be too hot for her? Do I really want to schlep everything required for a baby? Are we all going to be miserable? But after asking my amazing pediatrician, who said, “Go! Have fun!” I feel much better! Of course, I am going with the expectation that it’s going to be a different kind of trip than we’re used to but still fun. So this week will be spent making lists upon lists of everything we will need, could possibly need, and probably won’t need.

Sidenote: Have I ever mentioned how much I love making lists? I’m sure I can’t be the only one that will put something that I’ve already completed on my list for the satisfaction of crossing it off, right?? I used to be a fan of paper lists but I would always lose the paper, so now I use this app called Wunderlist and it is amazing. You can make all different types of lists and you can share those lists with others (they have to have the app also) and you can both add or cross things off. And you best believe that I have a ‘Honey do list’ for Hubby. 🙂

Wow, I really went off on a tangent there. Anyway, we’re going to Playa del Carmen, which is about 45 minutes away from Cancún. My aunt and uncle own a house there so we will have the advantage of having all the amenities of a home. I also rented a crib from this place called Baja Baby Gear. They have almost anything you would need for your little one and they rent it out to you by the day. Not only that, but they also deliver your order to wherever you’re staying. This is the first time I’ve used them so I’ll let you know how everything works out.

Later this week I’ll be featuring a roundup of everything (I think) I’ll need to travel with a bebé. Any thoughts, advice, suggestions from those of you that have traveled with a little one? Let me hear it!

XO,

L

OMG the picture of Livy and Plotkin is SO heart melting. Her little face……:)

And the fact that you love the list making is very much your mum. I can remember when we were at her old house how she would always have little sticky notes, she was always very organized, so you got it from your mama:)

    Great Posting!
