A Post About Nothing

January 13, 2016

I had several different ideas on what to blog about today, but I was feeling meh about all of them. So I present to you: a post about nothing. The super cold January temps have me in a creative slump of sorts… we’ll call it blogger’s block. So I thought I would just update you on what’s been going on in our lives. I know, riveting stuff.

We celebrated Olivia’s baptism and baby naming on Sunday (more on that in a future post) and I’m recovering from having 40+ people at our home for the first time. And I mean that in a good way, because it was wonderful to be surrounded by family and friends, but boy is it work! I also can’t believe that Olivia is already 10 months old and her first birthday is fast approaching. I really need to decide what to do for her birthday. Big party? Small party? Party at our house, the park district, a restaurant? Any ideas would be helpful!

I’m getting the hang of this stay at home mom thing and I’m finally in a routine that works. Part of that routine is nap time and that’s when mama gets to blog! Yay! We also just registered for our first Mommy & Me class at the park district and had so much fun at the first class. It was nice to see Olivia in a social setting with other babies her age. I will definitely be looking into more classes and I really want to do a swimming class with her. Oh, and in addition to waving and clapping, her new thing is sticking her entire thumb up mommy’s nose. She thinks it’s hilarious and even though it’s weird, I kinda do too.

Eric and I will be going to Houston for a wedding in a few weeks (this will be our 6th wedding in 6 months– hooray for love!) and we’ve never been to Texas together, so I’m pretty excited about that. Any recommendations for great breakfast/lunch spots (we really won’t have time for much else) in the area?? Do share!

My home decorating skillz are slowly coming along. We recently bought a new dining table and chairs, a couch, and counter stools. We also had our master closet and laundry room built in and what a difference it makes! I actually put my clothes away now which is a huge win for Eric. So the house is feeling less bare and slightly more homey. I’ll also be posting on all these things soon.

Thanks for listening to the mundane today and stay warm!

XO,

L

In regards to bday, I would recommend keeping it small. She’s only going to be one, she won’t remember it. Save your money for when it really counts!!
