A Day in the Life

a day in the life

It’s been a little slow on the blog front this week. I haven’t had much time for blogging for a few reasons. First, Eric has been out of town for work all week. And here is where I’d like to take a pause from our regularly scheduled program to bow to the greatness of all the moms whose husbands travel for work (and to single mamas, too!). I don’t know how you do it, but my hat is off to you. Fortunately, Eric rarely travels, but not having him here for a week is no joke, people.

And the second reason for my lack of blog awesomeness is that my trusty, tried and true laptop has been on the fritz lately. After 7 years it was slowing down and then the other day it officially fritzed and I was left laptopless. But the good news is that I am currently typing this post on my shiny, brand-spankin’ new laptop! It’s my early 30th (gasp!) birthday present. I would just like to point out that my birthday isn’t for another 6 months and I’m hanging on to 29 for dear life.

So this week I’ve been flying solo with my lil peanut, but my life was made easier by my family. First my mother in-law and sisters in-law babysat and made dinner for me. And by “babysat,” I mean they hung out with me so that I wouldn’t be scared of every little sound in my house by myself. 🙂 Then I stayed by my mom’s house for a few nights for some mommy/daughter/granddaughter bonding time. There is truly nothing like having family there for you.

Eric comes home tomorrow and I’m thinking our plans for the Valentine’s Day weekend will include lots of delicious takeout, some cuddles on the couch, and binge watching my latest obsession: Grand Hotel. You guys, this show is seriously amazing. It’s actually a Spanish telenovela, but not like Days of Our Lives. Think Downton Abbey in Spanish and on steroids. Like soooooo good. Please don’t be scared off by the subtitles and just give it a try. Promise?

Other things going on this week… Olivia climbed unassisted (but watched and shadowed very closely by me and Grandma) up 6 stairs. I couldn’t believe it! She still does the army crawl and yet there she was climbing up the stairs! We had gotten away with minimal baby-proofing thus far, but I’m thinking some baby gates are in order now.

Oh, and a funny story… When I take a shower, Olivia is usually hanging out in the bathroom with me, playing with her toys on the floor. Well, the other day as I was in the shower, she started crying because she hit her head. I opened the door to calm her down and as soon as she saw the door open, she stopped crying and crawled right into the shower with me. Fully clothed and everything. She started playing with the shampoo bottles and soap and it was just too cute to stop her. At one point she even put the bar of soap in her mouth. She didn’t even flinch or cry, which is concerning because what am I going to do in the future when she talks back to me?

And that, my friends, was my week. I usually love to write about interesting topics pertaining to motherhood, but sometimes motherhood is exactly this: nothing new or exciting, just the day to day happenings. A day in the life, if you will.

XO,

L

    Lauren my dear,
Can you hear me laughing ? What a great post!!!!!! Yes that is a true day in the life of being a Mother. Never a dull moment and no two days are alike. It sounds like you handled everything just right. You’ll get days that just make you laugh and then there will be days that you spending crying all day. One bit of Mother in -law advice is try to laugh a lot and don’t take things too seriously.
Also being one of those wives who’s husbands traveled ALOT and for longer periods of time, It gets better and in time you may like it. I found it to be a great time to catch up on projects I wanted to do, watch all my girlie shows in peace. Redecorate the house , make lunch or dinner plans with friends, and not look at the clock to make dinner for my husband. I will suggest that you look into a security system of some kind, It will make you rest easier. Also if Eric should go out of town again, you can count on me to make you dinner and babysit you ( not Olivia ) again. Seriously, We love you and are always here for you.

P.S That precious granddaughter of mine is so sweet and adorable. That face!!!!!! I could eat her up. Great pictures. XOXO Forever
