5 Winter Essentials I Can’t Live Without

winter essentials

Last weekend we had one sunny 60 degree day in a sea of cloudy, gloomy days. We took a walk outside, Olivia played with her Coupe Car, and we didn’t wear winter coats. It was amazing to be outside and breathe some fresh air. Unfortunately, it left just as fast as it came and today it snowed. 🙁 Boooo!

Even Olivia is itching to be outside more. Every time I open the door to let the dog out, Olivia comes running and as soon as she gets to the door, she says, “Cold” and closes it. But I guess if you’re going to live in a cold weather state, you might as well stock up on all the essentials that make winter bearable. These are the 5 winter essentials that will help you get through the last two months (2 months?!) of winter.

5 Winter Essentials I Can’t Live Without

1. Lip Balm. I get THE worst chapped lips in the winter and the only thing that keeps them moisturized is my favorite lip balm that I am always talking about, Smith’s Rosebud Salve. My sister in law introduced me to Smith’s years ago and I’ve been a fan ever since.

2. Quality Boots. I have a ton of cute boots but there are only a few that I can go outside in extreme conditions with. Rain, sleet, snow, OH MY! I swear by my Sorels and Hunter boots. They’re both a bit of an investment but SO worth it and last a long time.

3. Candles. There’s something about lighting a candle that says ‘I’m about to get cozy AF.’ This candle from Anthro smells amazing. And also, my mom bought this sandalwood candle for Eric that he actually kept on the shelf of his closet because he loved the smell of it so much (don’t worry, we never burned it in there). And now it’s one of my favs too. It’s not a sickly sweet or feminine smelling candle, but more like a great smelling cologne.

4. Throw Blankets. Cold weather means a lot of time on the couch. The only way to really get cozy is with a good throw blanket. And a good throw also doubles as home decor. #doublebonus

5. Slippers. FACT: I have an obsession with slippers and I literally buy a new pair every winter. I think it stems from my childhood when my mom would scold me for not wearing slippers to keep the bottom of my socks clean. And if I didn’t wear them I would have to scrub my socks by hand! (That makes my mom sound so mean, but she’s not! Haha!)

Okay so what are your winter essentials? Anything you’d add to this list?

Stay warm, friends! And have a wonderful weekend!
