We’ve all had a case of the S’Mondays at some point. You know, that dreaded moment where Sunday stops feeling like Sunday and the anxiety of Monday sets in. But it doesn’t have to be like that. I used to be that person that would run around on Mondays like a chicken with it’s head cut off because I never prepared myself for the week ahead.

Whether you go to an office every day or are a stay at home mom, prepping for the week ahead is imperative, especially when summer is over and kids go back to school. Olivia isn’t at school age just yet (time, please slow down!) but there is a difference between our summer schedule and our fall/winter schedule. And I have to say that the trick to a successful week is all about how you prep on Sunday. These are a few things I do every Sunday to help manage my Monday and the rest of the week.

5 Sunday Tips to Prep for the Week

  1. Check the weather for the week. I am seriously addicted to the weather app on my phone. I check it on Sundays to see what the weather will be for the week ahead. This helps me decide on what clothes to wear, what activities to do for the week, and figuring out if I’ll need a jacket/umbrella/rain boots etc.
  2. Sunday Tips to Prep for the WeekPick out your clothes. Whether you do this for the week or just the next day, it is so helpful to know what you and your kids are going to wear. Because if you’re anything like me, it can take you forever to find something. You know the saying, A closet full of clothes but nothing to wear? Yeah, story of my life. Not only that, but it’s so hard to find toddler clothes that match and fit and it’s one less headache to deal with in the morning.

  3. pick out clothes sunday prepDo a 10 minute organization prep. I hate coming downstairs in the morning and seeing a pile of dirty dishes in the sink. Wash them or throw them in the dishwasher the night before. Make sure your essentials are stocked and where they need to be– like shampoo, milk, toilet paper, etc. Fortunately, I don’t need to worry about restocking the toilet paper as often because we use Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong® (Mega Rolls). Quilted Northen has 4x more the sheets designed to give you more. Just one less thing this mama needs to worry about! organize sunday to do list
  4. Plan out your meals and make your grocery list. I do this for two reasons. One, because I used to walk through the grocery store and think hmmm, maybe I’ll make X this week and X and maybe X. And then I would buy all this stuff that would just go to waste. And two, because it is such a time saver to plan ahead and buy all the groceries at once. So first, make your menu and then from there make your grocery list. And don’t forget the essentials like soap, detergent, and Quilted Northern toilet paper, which you can find at Target (duh! Is there anything Target doesn’t have?!). Make sure to add this Target Cartwheel offer to save on your next purchase of Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong Mega Rolls!

  6. Take time for yourself. As the saying goes, A Sunday well spent brings a week of content. So make sure you take some time to do something for yourself. Anything! Paint your nails, read for a few minutes before bed, take a walk. Do something to reset your mind and get you ready for whatever the week will throw at ya!

I seriously love these tips! I lay out all Tera’s clothes on Sunday, too! It’s so helpful!
I set a timer every night after I put Tera to bed- 2 minutes in each room of the house just tidying up. It only takes about 15 minutes total and my house looks great while I sleep and is ready for me when I wake up in the morning!

    • Lauren July 21, 2016 at 10:29 pm

I love that idea! A few minutes in each room is all it takes! Thanks for the tip, mama!

Good list! I need to get in a better habit of meal planning! It really does help but lots of weeks I don’t take the time to do it.

  • Anastasia Carter August 21, 2016 at 6:24 am

I really try to just get everything done that I can all weekend. We both work long hours during the week and don’t get much cleaning done then. Some nights we use disposable dishes to save on cleaning time! Lol!
