4 Years…

4 years

I can’t believe Eric and I are celebrating our four year wedding anniversary today! I mostly can’t believe it because last year I thought we were celebrating 2 years when it was really 3 but hubby kindly corrected me! Haha! One of the questions I get asked aaaalllll the time is how my husband and I met, and because it’s kind of an entertaining story, I thought I’d share it with you all.

At the time I was 23 years old and I was doing some promotional work. You know those people that hand out free stuff in stores/gyms/downtown? Yeah, that was me. So I was doing a job handing out Gatorade in several gyms in the Chicagoland area. And one evening I happened to be working at the Bally’s Total Fitness (remember those?!) that Eric was exercising at.

He walked by me on his way out and I offered him a Gatorade and he said no and I said, “Really? Who doesn’t like free Gatorade?” Because really, who doesn’t like free Gatorade??? (He still claims that me asking him that was my pickup line and I maintain that I was just doing my job.) Somehow that led to a 20 minute conversation with each other and then he left, and I thought that was the end of that.

About a half hour later, a gym employee approached me and said, “Are you Lauren? You have a call on line one.” That was weird, nobody would be calling me at the gym. I picked up and heard a familiar voice, “Hey it’s Eric, the guy you were just talking to. I wanted to call and give you my number and maybe we can have dinner one day.” I wrote down his number with ZERO intentions of ever calling him.

But a few days later, guess who found me on Facebook? Yep, Eric. He was and still is a persistent guy and found me. A few conversations turned into a first date and he says that he knew after that first date that he was going to marry me. It might have taken me a little bit longer than that to know. 😉 But here we are four years, one beautiful daughter, and one baby on the way later! I am so grateful to have built such a wonderful family and life with this hubby of mine!

XO,

L
